Gina Romanik Mejia joined our firm in 2004 and has practiced law since 1998. She provides clients with an exhaustive examination of the facts and applicable law to provide recommendations regarding resolution, case valuation and cost/benefit analysis.
Ms. Mejia regularly handles high exposure personal injury and property damage cases throughout Florida dealing with product liability, auto liability, trucking, construction defects, road construction/MOT, premises liability and dram shop. Gina has also successfully defended a variety of professionals including real estate brokers, insurance brokers and agents, attorneys, architects and engineers in professional liability claims. She has argued a variety of dispositive motions and tried numerous cases to verdict in Florida.
Notable cases include: Defense verdict in wrongful death case where plaintiff was crushed while working on a vehicle owned by a general contractor/construction company. The jury rejected plaintiff’s theory and found no liability of the company. Demand at trial was in excess of $20 million.
Successfully defended insurance agent in negligent procurement action where plaintiff claimed that agent procured performance bond from unlicensed insurer. The jury found no liability against agent.
Successfully defended county fair in negligent security case wherein plaintiff claimed significant injuries requiring back surgery after being involved in an altercation with security guards. While Plaintiff claimed lost wages and medical expenses in excess of $300,000, the jury awarded less than $50,000 and found plaintiff 50% comparatively negligence.
A graduate of the University of Florida, with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Business Administration, Ms. Mejia received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was Vice President of the Student Bar Association, President of Phi Alpha Delta and a member of the prestigious Iron Arrow Society. She is a member of the Florida Bar; United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida; and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She belongs to the Florida Bar Association, DRI (Defense research Institute and CLM (Claims and Litigation Management Alliance).
Born in Illinois, Ms. Mejia was raised in Miami, where she current resides with her husband and children. She enjoys cooking/baking, skiing, swimming, travelling with her family and playing with the family dogs.
