Vazken A.E. Zerounian - Senior Associate
Biography
Vazken A.E. Zerounian is a seasoned trial attorney based in Philadelphia with extensive experience in criminal law, civil rights litigation, and complex civil matters. He has represented clients in a wide range of proceedings, including jury and bench trials, arbitrations, mediations, and appellate matters.
Mr. Zerounian previously served as an Assistant District Attorney for the City of Philadelphia, where he represented the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in juvenile court proceedings. In this role, he supervised post-trial matters, mentored junior attorneys, and collaborated with judges, defense counsel, and government agencies to address complex juvenile justice issues, including matters involving diversionary courts and rehabilitation programs.
Mr. Zerounian was also a trial attorney in private practice, where he represented clients in personal injury, civil rights, and insurance bad-faith litigation. His experience includes handling a broad range of cases involving premises liability, class actions, excessive force, and claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act. He has managed all aspects of litigation, from pleadings and discovery through trial and appeal, and has argued matters before appellate courts, including the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Zerounian served as a law clerk to the Honorable Roxanne E. Covington in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, where he conducted legal research, drafted judicial opinions, and supported the court in high-volume criminal proceedings.
In addition to his public and private practice experience, Mr. Zerounian is a former managing partner of a full-service law firm and a former Assistant Defender at the prestigious Defender Association of Philadelphia, where he gained substantial courtroom experience handling criminal matters at all stages of litigation. He has conducted thousands of trials, hearings, and motions, and is well-versed in both trial advocacy and case strategy.
Mr. Zerounian earned his LL.M. in Federal Trial Advocacy, magna cum laude, from California Western School of Law and his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Ursinus College. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey.
