On July 22, 2020, Mintzer Sarowitz Zeris Ledva & Meyers partners Bradley Shafer, George Bogris, and Jeffrey Sotland participated in the National Fire Sprinkler Association Virtual Back to Work Contractor’s Forum. As part of a much larger curriculum, MSZL&M presented on the following topics:
Bradley Shafer, Esquire addressed the current COVID-19 circumstances and the myriad of regulations and guidelines that exist for both worker safety and employer compliance. Brad focused on many areas that have created confusion, disinformation, and conflicting guidance.
George Bogris, Esquire addressed contractual limitations, protections, and areas of negotiation to protect sprinkler contractors from both the typical day to day risks as well as new risks associated with COVID-19. George discussed the many important aspects of how to limit a sprinkler contractor’s exposure under normal circumstances and in relation to COVID-19 conditions.
Jeffrey Sotland, Esquire addressed the general contractor/subcontractor environment under COVID-19 when addressing safety procedures, negotiations, and employee protections. Addressing negotiated subcontracts, two shift workdays on construction sites for social distancing, and conflicting subcontractor employee safety guidelines, Jeffrey was able to provide a path forward to open a discussion with general contractors.
MSZL&M is committed to assisting our industry partners in educating and consulting with their members and will continue to lead the fight to protect our clients in these challenging times.
