Michael G. Gallaway joined the firm in 2021, and works out of our Wheeling, WV office. He is an accomplished and versatile first-chair trial lawyer, litigator and advisor, who prepares each case with the objective of winning for his clients at trial. As a practicing attorney since 1986, Mike exemplifies the philosophy that all battles are won before they are fought, and his pre-trial diligence and preparation, including identification and development of relevant issues, facts and witnesses, translates into focused, zealous and persuasive courtroom advocacy.
Mike has acted as lead counsel in numerous professional malpractice and construction-related cases, including successful defense of attorneys, insurance agents, architects, engineers, construction companies and contractors. He has successfully represented his clients in cases involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, product liability, and workplace injury. He has also represented financial institutions and other creditors in commercial litigation brought under state and federal consumer protection laws, and has extensive involvement in bad-faith insurance litigation, extra-contractual disputes and insurance coverage issues.
Mike’s clients have included Fortune 500 companies, national and international insurers, and regional, state and local businesses. His trial and litigation experience also allow him to act as an advisor to corporate leadership and legal teams. He is often relied upon as a trusted advisor to assess and avoid risk and to balance competing business objectives and legal considerations for his clients.
Mike is a member of Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, where he previously served two terms as a member of the Board of Governors, and where he currently serves as a member of the Amicus Brief Committee. He is also a member of Defense Research Institute (DRI).
Mike is also active in the local community, currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, Inc., and as a member of the City of Wheeling Police Civil Service Commission. Additionally, Mike is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Wheeling YMCA. He and his wife, Terra, live in Wheeling, and are the proud parents of three adult children.
