Katie E. Pakler has been licensed to practice law since 2014. Katie has experience in various areas of the law, with concentrations in civil litigation, health care and professional liability. Prior to joining MSZL&M Katie practiced in a firm specializing in health care law, with an emphasis in medical staff, transactional and regulatory matters. Katie has a wealth of experience in dealing with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services. She also has experience handling issues under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, the Joint Commission Standards, and state law, including the state peer review privilege. Katie has counseled physician clients regarding claims of negligent credentialing and medical malpractice. Katie has also collaborated with hospitals and medical groups to draft medical staff documents, peer review manuals and other policies and procedures.
Katie gained valuable courtroom experience while working as a Staff Attorney for Kidsvoice, Inc. While at Kidsvoice, Inc. Katie managed dependency cases in Allegheny County and served as guardian ad litem or counsel to children who were deemed dependent in Allegheny County and under the legal care of the Allegheny County Office of Children Youth and Families.
Katie has also worked with non-profit corporations, handling corporate legal matters, legislative affairs, contract preparation, and employment litigation in state and federal courts.
