Prior to joining MSZLM, DeAnna handled insurance defense litigation representing various insurance carriers and their insureds. She has served as a trial attorney in Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Florida, defending trucking and transportation companies, transportation network companies, healthcare providers, governmental entities and private retailers. Prior to working on civil cases, DeAnna provided legal representation as an Assistant Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida.
While in law school, DeAnna was the recipient of the Florida Bar Foundation’s Public Service Fellowship. This enabled her work with the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida, where she worked on various civil liberties cases, constitutional issues, and provided support on public policy matters. Throughout law school, she was a member of the Coastal Law Mock Trial Team; served as president of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA); and was the executive marketing editor of the 2007-2008 SRBLSA Law Journal. A native to Huntsville, Alabama, DeAnna attended Alabama A&M on athletic scholarship and was named the 2000 South Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year.
