| Marielis Rivera
Marielis Rivera was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and was raised in Miami, Florida. In 1998, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Political Science from Florida State University. She also earned a full scholarship to the University of Miami School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholar. While a law student, Ms. Rivera served on the Moot Court Board and was the special projects editor of the Journal of Psychology, Public Policy and Law. She received the CALI book award in Legal Research and Writing and numerous other awards for community service, including the Mofsky Service Award. She was also the President of the Student Organization for the Study of Human Rights. After obtaining her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami in 2003, Ms. Rivera worked at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, LLP in Miami, where she focused primarily on products liability, premises liability and general negligence defense cases. Ms. Rivera became a Tampa resident in 2006. Her practice then expanded into the areas of business litigation, insurance coverage, and construction defect litigation. In 2009, she joined Mintzer, Sarowitz, Zeris, Ledva & Meyers as an associate in the Tampa office. Ms. Rivera is admitted to practice in the state courts of Florida and in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts. Ms. Rivera remains active in the Tampa community and currently practices in the areas of insurance defense and coverage litigation, premises liability, products liability, construction litigation, medical malpractice and general liability defense. |
