Phillip B. Silverman and Steven N. Cherry secured a defense verdict in Philadelphia in the matter of Denise Williams v. Metro Care, Inc. in June 2003. Philadelphia Police Officer Denise Williams was rear-ended by defendant’s Metro Care, Inc. vehicle. Williams suffered injuries to her neck and back in prior accidents and claimed that her symptoms increased after this accident. After testimonies from several medical experts, however, it was concluded that the plaintiff’s suffering was not caused by the accident, but instead by a chronic disease that pre-dated the accident. The jury returned a 10-2 verdict in favor of the defense.
