Kathleen Hannan
Ms. Hannan graduated from the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Ms. Hannan began her career as a Registered Nurse, and worked in that field at a prestigious major metropolitan New York trauma and academic medical center, affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Ms. Hannan first worked in the area of medical-surgical nursing, and then specialized in Emergency Nursing for several years, providing care and treatment to patients including trauma, psychiatric, medical and surgical, as well as all subspecialties, for adult and pediatric populations. During her nursing practice, Ms. Hannan received her Board Certification in Emergency Nursing. In addition, Ms. Hannan received Certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Trauma Life Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
While working at a major metropolitan medical center, Ms. Hannan attended New York Law School, and obtained her Juris Doctorate degree in 1997. Ms. Hannan began her legal career in the areas of Medical Malpractice, Professional Liability, and General Liability defense, while working at prominent New York City Law firms. Ms. Hannan’s specialized background and knowledge of medicine has been beneficial to her legal practice, particularly in her defense of complex civil litigation claims involving major health care institutions, physicians, and health care providers, with high exposure cases which included neurological and obstetrical issues. In addition, Ms. Hannan previously defended a major corporation as to general liability claims. Moreover, Ms. Hannan’s nursing and legal background, lead to her obtaining a successful summary judgment decision, which dismissed the medical malpractice claims made against a major metropolitan medical center and attending physician. Further, Ms. Hannan’s unique background has been an asset to the preparation for trial and the mitigation of damages assessment of numerous complex medical professional liability and general liability cases.
Ms. Hannan is licensed to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey, and the United States District Court of New Jersey. Ms. Hannan is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Torts and Insurance Law Division.
Ms. Hannan practices in the areas of Professional Liability, Negligence, Medical Malpractice, Legal Malpractice, and General Liability. Ms. Hannan also counsels clients and institutions regarding Risk Management issues.
